PCRC2008 — 2nd Peace and Conflict Resolution Conference

25th - 27th of April 2008, Cairo, Egypt

Venue: Golden Tulip Flamenco Hotel

The 2nd Peace and Conflict Resolution Conference (PCRC2008) was held from 25th to 27th April 2008 in Cairo, Egypt, hosted at the Golden Tulip Flamenco Hotel. As one of the earliest editions in the PCRC series, this conference built upon the vision established during the inaugural gathering in 2007: creating a space where scholars, practitioners, peacebuilders, educators, and community leaders could exchange ideas, discuss complex global challenges, and work toward sustainable peace.

Held during a period when international dialogue on conflict resolution and peacebuilding was rapidly evolving, PCRC2008 brought together a small but dedicated community united by the belief that meaningful progress is achieved through collaboration, dialogue, and shared human understanding. Although organized before Tomorrow People Organization introduced its digital archiving system, the 2008 edition played a foundational role in shaping the values and identity of PCRC today:

  • Deep, honest dialogue over large-scale parallel sessions
  • Cross-cultural understanding and global cooperation
  • Interdisciplinary approaches to conflict analysis and peacebuilding
  • Practical application of negotiation, mediation, and reconciliation methods
  • Commitment to peace as a shared responsibility across sectors and societies

PCRC2008 helped establish the character of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Conference — an event series that would, in the following years, welcome participants from more than 100 countries and contribute to global conversations on peace, justice, conflict transformation, and human rights.
